WALK OF HONOR. As part of the Veterans monument constructed on Schmitt Island, a special place was created called the "Walk of Honor." The Tri-State area people honored here either received the MEDAL OF HONOR or the DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS, this nation's two highest military awards.
