LINEHAN RAILWAY TRANSFER COMPANY. Articles of incorporation for the Linehan Transfer Company were filed with the Dubuque County Recorder on November 29, 1895. The five directors of the company were Bart E. LINEHAN, T. M. Linehan, William S. MOLO, W. J. Browne, and George W. Kiesel. The capital stock authorized was $500,000.

The company was organized to build, equip, maintain and operate railway transfer steamers and FERRYBOATS, transfer barges and all other means of transfer, for the transfer of railway trains, engines and cars, passengers, freight of all kinds at points on the MISSISSIPPI RIVER between St. Paul and New Orleans and small rivers tributary to said river in whatever state situated.

The company was positioned to do the transfer work for twelve lines of railway. Linehan was in Galveston, Texas the week before the articles of incorporation were filed. His purpose was to determine the potential of operating a transfer steamer between Galveston and Bolivar Point.
