HELLER, Joseph J.
HELLER, Joseph J. (Ft. Dodge, IA, Jan. 12, 1937--Dubuque, IA, June 1, 2013) The son of Joseph and Marian (Flattery) Heller Sr., Joseph attended LORAS COLLEGE and received his medical degree from the University of Iowa. He completed his residency in pediatric medicine at Iowa and his internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. On August 13, 1960, Joseph married Sharon Lorenz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City.
in 1964 Dr. Heller became one of the early partners of MEDICAL ASSOCIATES CLINIC PC (THE) and practiced pediatrics for the next twenty years. In 1984, he relocated to Mesa, Arizona where he was director of pediatrics for Cigna Health Plans in Mesa and Scottsdale for 15 years.
Dr. Heller was a veteran of the VIETNAM WAR and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 510 of Dubuque. He also served as past president of the Dubuque County Medical Society, chief of staff at XAVIER HOSPITAL and MERCY MEDICAL CENTER, and was a member of American Medical Association.
