HAMM, Vernon. (State Center, IA Aug. 29, 1916--Rochester, MN, Jan. 2, 2001). After serving in [[WORLD WAR II]], Hamm worked as an architectural apprentice in Marshalltown and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He moved to Dubuque and joined Paul Rossiter to form Rossiter and Hamm Architects (later Design Center Associations PC) in 1957.

Hamm designed many Dubuque landmarks including the portside facility and Dubuque Welcome Center at the [[ICE HARBOR]]. He also designed the [[WASHINGTON PARK]] gazebo, new [[DUBUQUE CITY HALL]] entrances, and renovations to [[SACRED HEART CHURCH]]. He was instrumental in saving the [[OLD JAIL]] from demolition.
