SCHERR,  Franz.  (Germany, 1830--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 4, 1909). After receiving a practical education in the German schools, Scherr learned the intricacies of the brewing business. After coming to Dubuque, he was joined [[SCHMID, Titus|Titus SCHMID]] in the Schmid & Scheer brewery beginning in 1855. He sold his interest and in 1864 traveled to Cassville, Wisconsin and constructed the Schmitz & Scherr Brewery.
