In 1937 Sigman took over the management of the [[UNION PRINTING COMPANY]] from his father-in-law, William Steuck and rose to the presidency of the company by 1942. Union Printing merged with Hoermann Press in 1970 to form [[UNION-HOERMANN PRESS]]. Sigman was succeeded by his son, Jim Sigman. | |||

SIGMAN, Allan. (Dubuque, IA,Oct. 17, 1897--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 24, 1986). President, UNION-HOERMANN PRESS. In 1922 Sigman served as secretary and assistant to Dubuque's first city manager, Ossian E. CARR. Sigman later worked as acting city manager until a new manager was hired.
In 1937 Sigman took over the management of the UNION PRINTING COMPANY from his father-in-law, William Steuck and rose to the presidency of the company by 1942. Union Printing merged with Hoermann Press in 1970 to form UNION-HOERMANN PRESS. Sigman was succeeded by his son, Jim Sigman.
