WRIGHT, Mary Helen (Sister). Junction City, Kansas--Dubuque, IA, Feb. 2, 1990). Sister Wright was the last superior general of the [[SISTERS OF CHARITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY (B.V.M.) from 1955-1967. The position of superior general was replaced by a president.

Sister Wright entered the order in 1921. She received her bachelor of art's degree at COLUMBIA COLLEGE. She was one of the founders and early president of the Conference of Major Superiors of Women, later known as the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, the official link between women in the United States with the Vatican.

During her tenure, Guadalupe College in Los Gatos, California was constructed as a West Coast novitiate.

Wright Hall in Chicago, later a BVM retirement center, was named in her honor.
