WISSEL, Cyril
WISSEL, Cyril. (Dubuque, IA, May 28, 1903--Dubuque, IA, June 20, 1976). Cyril Wissel was the son of Fred G. WISSEL. On September 26, 1927, Cyril Wissel co-founded, with Urban J. HAAS, H & W MOTOR EXPRESS with a two-ton truck moving freight from Dubuque to Chicago. Wissel was also president of DUBUQUE STORAGE & TRANSFER COMPANY.
Wissel held board of director membership at AMERICAN TRUST AND SAVINGS BANK, Motor Carriers Employers Conference-Central States for which he was also the secretary-treasurer, and the Middlewest Motor Freight Bureau. He was on the executive committee of Iowa Motor Truck Association, Carriers Insurance Company, Carriers Casualty Company and Carinco Insurance Services, Inc. Wissel was chairman of the American Trucking Association Board of Directors Industrial Relations Committee.
Locally Wissel served on the boards of trustees for the DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE and CLARKE COLLEGE. Socially he was a member of the 660 Club of the DUBUQUE SHOOTING SOCIETY.
