WEBSTER LUMBER COMPANY. Charles and Ace Webster founded the original company in Waucoma, Iowa in 1885. It was operated by Charles alone until 1944 when Joe and Ben Webster took over its management.

In 1952 the company was sold to the FRUDDEN LUMBER COMPANY of Dubuque which at the time operated nine lumber yards in northeast Iowa. (1)

A lumber company of the same name headquartered in St. Paul established a plant in Dubuque in 1934 at the foot of East 19th Street. The company was to be a manufactured of staves for beer barrels and had been manufacturing railroad ties for year. (2)

The 1939 Dubuque City Directory listed 75 E. 4th.
