WALLIS, Joey
WALLIS, Joey. (Dubuque, IA-- ) In 2009 while in northern Italy to photograph skiers Darcee Newt and Eben MOND, Wallis, a frequent photographer for the Telegraph Herald, found himself signed up to participate in the European Telemark Free Ride Championship. Skiing down the 3,000-foot face of a mountain went well before a foot race to end the competition. Judges scored competitors on aggressiveness, fluidity, and technique. To his surprise, since he had not intended to compete, Wallis won his division.
In 2022 Wallis was the proprietor of Joey Wallis Photography in the renovated NOVELTY IRON WORKS building.
