The early part of the 1900s was an exciting time of new inventions for women. Though the early permanent wave machines looked very strange, with separate wires leading to each chemical-wrapped curl, they were the most modern, and many women wanted to try the new style. The 1937 Dubuque Consurvey Directory through 1942 Dubuque Classified Business Directory listed 503 FEDERAL BANK BUILDING.

The 1945 through 1959 Dubuque City Directory listed the address as 501 Federal Bank Building.

The 1962 through 1968 Dubuque City Directory listed 335 FISCHER BUILDING.
