SALEM INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. Located in northeastern Washington, southeast Table Mound, and southwest Mosalem townships, the school was located on the south side of Feeney Road one mile east of U.S. 61. It was closed and the district consolidated with the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT during the 1963-1964 school year. It was one of five districts that merged with Dubuque that year when the board of the Dubuque district set aside its limitation on the number of mergers it would accept in one year..
