PROBATE COURT

PROBATE COURT. The Iowa probate courts were created by an act of the territorial legislature. They continued to exist with jurisdiction in cases of wills and the administration of estates until the COUNTY COURT was established in 1852.

The judges were E. Lockwood, 1834; Joseph T Fales, from July 2, 1838 to April 1839; Charles Corkery from April 20, 1839 to 1847; V. Gienat to 1849; W. W. Hamilton to 1852.
