PORT OF DUBUQUE MARINA
PORT OF DUBUQUE MARINA. Opened in 2013, the Port of Dubuque Marina costing $4.3 million included seventy transient slips, a fuel dock, sanitary pump-out facilities, public restrooms, dockside shower suites, a laundry facility, and ship store.
In 2016 the number of reservations from May 1 to October 1 were 448. This was an increase over the 400 scheduled in 2014. There were 673 slips rented in the same period of time and 70 transient slips available for daily rental. From July 1 to November 1, the facility lost $60,682. In the previous year, the marina lost $152,055.
For 2017 the goals were continuing to improve sales at the convenience store and developing a print and social media marketing campaign with Travel Dubuque from the Twin Cities to St. Louis. The increase in overall dock revenue, an estimated $10,000 over projections of city officials, was due to revenue-sharing between the city and S.W.A.T. River Tours. The company was allowed to use the marina's docks in exchange for a percentage of the tour revenue which tripled from 2014 to 2015. (1)
