MILLER, William T. (Dubuque, IA, Jan. 18, 1941--Dubuque, IA Oct. 26, 2024). Bill was the son of Theodore and Genevieve (Carroll) Miller. He attended St. Patrick’s grade school, WASHINGTON JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL and DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL graduating in 1958.

Bill’s first job was at CarAdCo as a mail clerk, then he worked at the DUBUQUE PACKING COMPANY. He worked at the NATIONAL BUTTER COMPANY OF IOWA before and after completing training for the National Guard. Bill began his career with the FIRE DEPARTMENT in 1964. While working shift, he also drove school bus for the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT. Bill rose in the ranks at the Dubuque Fire Department and eventually served as Fire Chief from 1983 until retiring in 1996.

Bill married Charlyn Benda on October 1, 1966. They had two daughters, Cheryl and Anne. They enjoyed traveling to spend time with family in California and friends in Wisconsin. Bill served as a lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH.
