HOFFMAN'S ORCHESTRA
HOFFMAN'S ORCHESTRA. News items indicate that this group was entertaining the Dubuque area as early as 1887. It was called "Baron von Hoffman's Orchestra in 1911. (1) The 1913 Dubuque and Dubuque County Directory stated that this group could be contacted at 69 8th.
Perhaps because of anti-German feeling during WORLD WAR II, the group had been renamed Hoffman's Orchestra by 1915. (2)
The 1916-1917 White's Dubuque County Directory listed 84 Caledonia.
The orchestra held the contract at UNION PARK for many years and was a favorite for dance parties. (3)
