HODGES, Delos
HODGES, Delos. (Waverly, IA, Jan. 8, 1881--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 18, 1956). Hodges came to Dubuque in 1908 and managed the SPAHN AND ROSE LUMBER COMPANY. With John Daniels, Hodges organized the MIDWEST LUMBER COMPANY in 1922 and served as the firm's secretary until his death.
In 1949 Hodges served along with nineteen other business leaders on a panel appointed by Mayor Wharton to draft a new building code for the city. The panel was formed so that the council would have a basis for making decisions about the approval of new building materials. (1)
