HAAS, Urban R. "Skip" (Dubuque, IA, Sept. 11, 1939--Dubuque, IA, May 25, 2009). The son of Urban J. and Marie (Frey) Haas, Urban R. graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee. Upon the death of his father Urban J. HAAS, he became president of H & W MOTOR EXPRESS at age of 36 and remained president for seventeen years.
He was chairman of the board of several organizations including Iowa Motor Truck Association, National Motor Freight Traffic Association and The Regular Common Carrier Conference.
Locally Haas was chairman of the board at CLARKE COLLEGE for 10 years helping Clarke during and after the horrendous fire, DUBUQUE BANK AND TRUST COMPANY for 20 years,DUBUQUE RACING ASSOCIATION for 14 years. He served as past president of the 990 group at the DUBUQUE SHOOTING SOCIETY.
