FIRST SPIRITUALIST CHURCH. Originally the Spiritual Science Society, the First Spiritualist Church in 1931 was issued a new charter by the State Spiritualist Association of Iowa. (1)

In 1938 Miss Lucille Miller of Dubuque was elected president of the State Spiritualist Association of Iowa at the annual convention held in Cedar Rapids. Miss Miller had held the position of secretary of the state organization was currently the pastor of the First Spiritualist Church in Dubuque. (2) She was reelected in 1951. (3)

Newspaper accounts of church activities were common in the 1930s and 1940s.

The 1939 Dubuque City Directory listed 236 W. 9th.
