E. B. PIEKENBROCK MANUFACTURING COMPANY. In 1866 the Piekenbrock Company was organized under the firm name of PIEKENBROCK & DEUSS. Piekenbrock bought out his partner in 1883 and several years later the company was renamed, the Piekenbrock Company. (1)

Until 1903 the company had been a wholesale and jobbing business in shoes, rubbers and related footwear. In that year, the factory was established and the name was changed to E. B. Piekenbrock Shoe Manufacturing Company. The company specialized in men's work shoes and women's, misses' and children's fine shoes. The company had an annual capacity of an estimated 200,000 pairs of shoes. For this manufacture, the company used an estimated 12,000 goat skins for kid shoes and between 10,000-12,000 calf skins and cow hides for coarser shoes. (2)

The company represented the Boston and Bay State Rubber Company in Iowa and annually sold 400 carloads of rubbers. (3)

The 1886-87 Dubuque City Directory listed 456 Main.

The 1909 Dubuque City Directory gave the address of this business as 1614 Main.

The 1922 Dubuque Telephone Directory listed 205 Main.
