DEWSTOE, M. R. (NY, 1837--Unknown). Dewstoe came to Dubuque in 1859 and worked for Amos H. PEASLEE in the JULIEN HOUSE.

After returning from the CIVIL WAR, he was a traveling representative for C. P. Kinsley for two years, GLOVER & SMOCK, and then the H. B. GLOVER COMPANY. He was one of the founder of CHAMBERLAIN, DEWSTOE AND COMPANY and represented it on the road for many years. (1) In 1885 the company was dissolved with the retirement and Chamberlain. It was succeeded by the wholesale cigar firm of DEWSTOE, GLASSER AND BRADLEY. (2)

He was the founder and original president of the DUBUQUE TRAVELING AND BUSINESS MEN'S ASSOCIATION,
