COFFMAN, Eugene W. (Detroit, MI, Oct. 24, 1919--Scottsdale, AZ, Feb. 24, 2015). Coffman completed his undergraduate and medical school at Wayne State University. From 1945 to 1946 he did his internship at the Detroit Receiving Hospital. He served in the Army from 1946 to 1948 and then returned to practice in Detroit.

In the early 1950s, Dr. Paul J. LAUBE asked Dr. Coffman to relocate his internal medicine practice to Dubuque. Dr. Coffman opened his practice in 1952 in an office on Locust Street. In 1958 he was joined by Dr. John S. CHAPMAN and in 1960 by Dr. James Robert GILLOON. This practice eventually became DUBUQUE INTERNAL MEDICINE. (1)

Dr. Coffman retired in 1984 and later opened River Road Nursery in Bellevue. There he raised uncommon plants specializing in Viburnums. (2)
