CAT TRACKER CATFISH TOURNAMENT. The Cat Tracker Catfish Tournament Mini-Car Race and Festival made its debut on June 26-27, 1992 with a crowd for the two day event estimated between 22,000 and 25,000 people. The first of its kind to be held in Dubuque, the festival was located on the grounds of BARNSTEAD/THERMOLYNE. Nearly 80 anglers participated in the fishing tournament. Entertainment Saturday night was provided by Big Guitars from Memphis and the Colts Mini-Car Grand Prix attracted an estimated audience of 6,000. (1)

In 1997 the sixth annual fishing tournament attracted a record 78 two-person teams. The winners shared a $624 first place prize with a catch of thirteen channel catfish with a combined weight of 28.84 pounds. The 1996 winners brought in a total of 46.81 pounds. The 1996 tournament saw a total of 255 catfish with a combined weight of 477 pounds caught. The day's largest catfish weighed 7.79 pounds. (2)

The nineteenth annual catfish fishing tournament was held on June 19, 2010. A total of 20 two-person teams caught 134 fish weighing a total of 271.67 pounds.

The winners of the 2010 tournament were Dave Schumacher and Peyton Moeggenberg who brought in 41.33 pounds of fish with the largest weighing 10.12 pounds. Competitors fished for channel catfish in pools 11 and 12 of the MISSISSIPPI RIVER. The weigh-in was held at the Bait Shack.
