BORLEY, John C. (Dubuque, IA, Sept. 8, 1919--Sierra Vista, AZ, May 23, 1997). A graduate of LORAS COLLEGE in 1941, Borley entered the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans) in 1942 and was ordained in 1946. He worked with Native American missions in Arizona and New Mexico and parishes of Mexican-Americans until assigned to the U.S. Army Chaplaincy Command in 1959. In this assignment, his travels included Panama, Korea, France, Germany, Vietnam, and Turkey,

He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Cluster, Bronze Star with Oak Cluster, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star.
