GRODE, William F. (Dubuque, IA--  ). Editor. Encouraged by Father [[BAUMANN, John|John BAUMANN]], pastor of [[SACRED HEART CHURCH]], Grode published the [[CATHOLIC PILGRIM]] beginning in 1893.  A graduate of the [[DUBUQUE ACADEMY OF MUSIC]], he had previously worked as a proofreader and typesetter for the Palmer-Winall Printing Company in Dubuque.  Grode eventually moved to Los Angeles, California, and resumed work as a proofreader for the ''Los Angeles Gazette''.

A graduate of the DUBUQUE ACADEMY OF MUSIC, he had previously worked as a proofreader and typesetter for the Palmer-Winall Printing Company in Dubuque. Grode eventually moved to Los Angeles, California, and resumed work as a proofreader for the Los Angeles Gazette.
