DUBUQUE COUNTY FINE ARTS SOCIETY. Sponsor of DUBUQUEFEST/VERY SPECIAL ARTS. The all-volunteer organization was founded in 1976 to meet community needs not served by other organizations.

The Society presents the International Students Cultural Awareness Program, an annual Arts Award Banquet honoring people who have made outstanding contributions to the arts in the Dubuque area, and Dubuquefest/Very Special Arts, Iowa's largest all-arts festival.

In addition to supporting services of the Dubuque Writers Guild, the Society sponsors an annual national one-act play competition and produces the three best plays in the Five Flags Theater. Grants for the Society have been received from the Iowa Humanities Board and Music Performance Trust Fund of the Recording Industry, City of Dubuque, Dubuque County, Target stores, National Endowment of the Arts, Iowa Community Cultural Grant Program, and the Iowa Arts Council.
