MCDONOUGH, Leo F. (Hazelton, IA-Dubuque, IA, Aug. 9, 1977). Educator. McDonough, professor at LORAS COLLEGE for twelve years, was the first principal of Jefferson Junior High School (now JEFFERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL). He served in that position from 1922 until 1945 when he was appointed a district administrator of the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

In 1942 McDonough, treasurer of the Northeast Iowa BOY SCOUTS, was awarded the Silver Beaver. The Dubuque Lions Club, of which he was a former president, awarded him its Monarch Plaque. McDonough served as general chairman of the Dubuque Community Chest in 1948 and held memberships on the Dubuque Recreation Commission, Dubuque Unit of Retired Teachers, and the Dubuque Safety Council.
