HAM, C.M. (York County, ME, Mar. 23, 1833-- ). Publisher. A partner in the firm of Ham & Carver, publishers of the Dubuque Herald, Ham entered Union College, Schenectady, and graduated in 1855. He moved West to Michigan, where he remained eight years.

In 1863, he came to Iowa and settled in Dubuque, and became local editor of the Herald. The following year he joined D. D. W. CARVER and they bought the Dubuque Herald. In 1877, Ham was elected to the State Senate for four years; he is also a member of the Board of Education.
