HAM, C.M. (York County, ME, Mar. 23, 1833--Unknown). A partner in the firm of Ham & Carver, publishers of the Dubuque Herald, Ham entered Union College, Schenectady, and graduated in 1855. He moved West to Michigan, where he remained eight years.
In 1863 he came to Iowa,settled in Dubuque, and became local editor of the Herald. The following year he joined D. D. W. CARVER in buying the Dubuque Herald.
