WELU PRINTING COMPANY. In 1978 Welu Printing was the last of Dubuque's custom bookbinders. Founded by Anton "Tony" Welu in 1928, the company began at Fourth and Main before moving to 17th Street and Central. It has remained near that intersection.

In 1976 Welu purchased the assets and accounts of Schuster Printing Company. Under David Welu, president of the company, further expansion came in 1977 when the company enlarged its facility on adjacent property that was once a used car lot.
