WELU PRINTING COMPANY
WELU PRINTING COMPANY. In 1978 Welu Printing was the last of Dubuque's custom bookbinders. Founded by Anton "Tony" Welu in 1928, the company began at Fourth and Main before moving to 1701 Central.
The 1972 through 1977 Dubuque City Directory listed 1715 Central.
In 1976 Welu Printing purchased the assets and accounts of SCHUSTER PRINTING SERVICE. Under David Welu, president of the company, further expansion came in 1977 when the company enlarged its facility on adjacent property that was once a used car lot.
The 1980 through 1993 Dubuque City Directory listed 1685 Central. In 1983 through 1989 the directory also carried Welu Printing Service at the same address.
