ARCHITECTURE. Since its founding, Dubuque has seen many industries flourish and fade within the community. The rise of each new industrial base brought with it wealth and power to those in leadership positions. Those people built homes in the popular style of their day, leading Dubuque to be a national showcase of different architectural styles. Among the styles of architecture displayed in Dubuque are STONE ARCHITECTURE, ARTS AND CRAFTS ARCHITECTURE, SPANISH COLONIAL REVIVAL ARCHITECTURE, GREEK REVIVAL ARCHITECTURE, EGYPTIAN REVIVAL ARCHITECTURE, GOTHIC REVIVAL ARCHITECTURE, ITALIAN VILLA ARCHITECTURE, ROMANESQUE ARCHITECTURE, OCTAGON STYLE ARCHITECTURE, SECOND EMPIRE ARCHITECTURE, STICK ARCHITECTURE, QUEEN ANNE ARCHITECTURE, SULLIVANESQUE ARCHITECTURE, ECLECTIC ARCHITECTURE, STEAMBOAT ARCHITECTURE, BUNGALOW ARCHITECTURE, PRAIRIE ARCHITECTURE, and INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE.
