STICK ARCHITECTURE (Eastern). One of the rarest styles of architecture found in Dubuque, Stick is characterized by a steeply pitched gable roof, towers, pointed dormers, and porches. The pattern of horizontal, vertical and diagonal boards applied over the siding is considered very decorative. The style was popular in the United States from 1860 to 1890.
