FRUDDEN, Arbst F.
FRUDDEN, Arbst F. (Island of Fohr, province of Schleswig Holstein, Germany, Sept. 10, 1854-Apr., 1931). Eventually the president of theFRUDDEN LUMBER COMPANY, Frudden came to Dubuque in 1884 as a foreman with the Carr, Ryder, and Wheeler Sash and Door Manufacturing Company.
He remained with the company four years before resigning to organize with his brother and F. A. Rumpf a line of retail lumberyards known as the Frudden Lumber Company. A line of wholesale lumberyards was organized as the Engler-Frudden Lumber Company. This later became the Rumpf-Frudden Lumber Company.
Locally, Frudden was a director of FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DUBUQUE and the Northeastern and Central Iowa Lumberman's associations.
