SKOWRONEK, Casimir J.
SKOWRONEK, Casimir J. (Chicago, IL, Mar. 31, 1921--Dubuque, IA, May 21, 2013) The son of Edward and Rose (Wojcik) Skowronek, Casimir was a veteran of WORLD WAR II, retiring with the rank of major from the U.S. Army Air Force. During the war, he was a navigator on board a B-24 Liberator in the 464th bomb group, 15th Air Force, stationed in Italy. He took part in twenty-six combat missions and was shot down over enemy territory in 1945. The crew was able to escape with the aid of underground sympathizers. Casey then served in the Army Reserves for many years and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
On October 9, 1943, Casey married Dorothy Bausch in Kansas City, MO. The two owned and operated SKOWRONEK JEWELERS beginning in 1960 before retiring in 1980.
