FRUDDEN, Arbst F.
FRUDDEN, Arbst F. (Island of Fohr, province of Schleswig Holstein, Germany, Sept. 10, 1854-Apr., 1931). President, FRUDDEN LUMBER COMPANY. Frudden came to Dubuque in 1884 as a foreman with the Carr, Ryder, and Wheeler Sash and Door Manufacturing Company. He remained with the company four years before resigning to organize with his brother and F. A. Rumpf a line of retail lumberyards known as the Frudden Lumber Company. A line of wholesale lumberyards was organized as the Engler-Frudden Lumber Company. This later became the Rumpf-Frudden Lumber Company.
Politically, Frudden served in the lower house of the Iowa Legislature during the 29th, 30th and 31st general assemblies. He was elected to the state senate in 1906 and served during the 32nd and 33rd assemblies. Locally, Frudden was a director of FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DUBUQUE and the Northeastern and Central Iowa Lumberman's associations.
