CYCARE SYSTEMS, INC.
CYCARE SYSTEMS, INC. North America's leading provider of data management systems to medical groups and health care organizations. Founded in 1967 by James HOUTZ, CYCARE's first commercial account was the Ertl Toy Company of Dyersville, Iowa. Within one year CYCARE had entered into contracts with MEDICAL ASSOCIATES CLINIC PC (THE) and DUPACO COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION. CYCARE moved into the back of the WDBQ studios and gained accounts with the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT and the City of Dubuque.
In 1970 the decision was made to concentrate market strategy on capturing the business of the national medical community. The company's client list grew from one to ten clinics between 1970 and 1972. Another major surge occurred between 1972 and 1973 when the list expanded from ten to thirty-five. In 1981 CYCARE, by then an international provider of computer systems, went public and sold stock.
In the fall of 1986 CYCARE purchased the landmark DUBUQUE BUILDING for $5.7 million. The building was then approximately 65 percent occupied of which CYCARE used about 40 percent. CYCARE, the principal tenant, was Iowa's largest single generator of first class mail in 1989.
The 1993 Dubuque City Directory listed 500 Cycare Plaza.
