DUBUQUE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY. The first meeting of this organization, a branch of the national organization, was held on October 29, 1906 when a paper on the "Influence of Egypt and Greece on Architecture" was read by local architect, John Spencer. (1)
In March 1908 Professor Knapp of Columbia University came to Dubuque to deliver a program on "Ancient Roman Theaters." The announcement stated the lecture would be illustrated by stereopticon views. (2)
