WIEGAND, Darryl. (Dubuque, IA, July 30, 1947--Peosta, IA, Jan. 17, 2012). The son of Donald J. and Estelle E. (Trentz) Wiegand, Darryl married Jacqueline Bettcher on May 13, 1972, at SAINT PATRICK'S CHURCH in Dubuque. He worked for JOHN C. KAISER COMPANY as a painter and church decorator until retirement.

Wiegand was a Navy veteran serving during the VIETNAM WAR serving on an amphibious unit attached to the 1st Marine Division. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Farley American Legion Post 656 and Main Street Cruisers. He served on the board for the VETERANS MEMORIAL PLAZA, VETERANS' FREEDOM CENTER and was co-founder of Operation We Care. In 2010 and 2011 Wiegand brought Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere (GIVE) to Dubuque.
