SANOFI BIO INDUSTRIES. Paris-based firm and world's largest gelatin manufacturer. The Dubuque branch, formerly the Keystone Gelatin division of DUBUQUE PACKING COMPANY and then part of the Omaha-based Beef America, is the company's only United States-based gelatin plant.
The local operation has been a processor of pork skins from a 700-mile radius of Dubuque. Companies that purchase gelatin from Sanofi use the product in the manufacture of dozens of items including marshmallows, gelatin desserts, and hard and soft medicine capsules.
