Gilloon, Thomas J. (Dubuque, IA, Dec. 31, 1919--Dyersville, IA, Aug. 28, 1997). Attorney. Active in the Iowa Democratic Party and many civic and service organizations, Gilloon served as an assistant Dubuque County Attorney and Dyersville City Attorney. Admitted to the State Bar of Iowa in 1942, he served in the U.S. Navy during WORLD WAR II and then with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1947 to 1951.
From 1952 until his retirement, Gilloon practiced law in Dyersville and Earlville. He served on the boards of directors of the Western Dubuque School District and AREA RESIDENTIAL CARE, INC.. In 1992, he was honored by the Iowa State Bar Association for fifty years of membership and service.
