Her grandfather, [[LANGE, Otto F.|Otto F. LANGE]] served in the Iowa State Senate from 1926 to 1930. He ran for governor in 1930 and 1932. Her father, [[LANGE, Harvey M.|Harvey M. LANGE]] was the Republican Party Chairman of the Second District of Iowa. She managed a new initiative "Turnout by Telephone." a voters' drive to rally constituents to the polls. In 1964 she represented Iowa voters at the 28th Republican National Convention as a Barry Goldwater delegate. When her husband chose to run for the United States Congress in 1972, she campaigned with him and after the campaign resigned her position of as Vice Chair. After the death of her husband in 1986, she operated Lange Insurance for three years before selling the company.
