KNOERNSCHILD, Fred. (Prussia, Germany, Apr. 10, 1840--Dubuque, 1874). Knoernschild served in the French miitary 1870 and 1871 before coming to Dubuque. He bought the NEW JEFFERSON HOUSE on Clay Street in 1871 and was its proprietor until his death.
