SHEPPLEY, William S. (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 28, 1896-Dubuque, IA, Mar. 18, 1968). Between 1915 and 1917 Sheppley rose from being a salesman for ROSHEK BROTHERS COMPANY of Dubuque to one of the city's most successful businessmen. He was listed in World's Who's Who in Commerce and Industry.
In 1919 Sheppley became a partner in Sheppley Brothers Realty Company before organizing W. S. SHEPPLEY AND COMPANY in 1921. Associated with the TRANSCONTINENTAL SECURITIES CORPORATION as its president from 1950 through 1962, Sheppley was chairman of the board at the time of his death.
He organized and was chairman of the board of MAIN CORPORATION (THE) beginning in 1963.
