KAUFMAN, Alda. (Munich, Germany, Aug. 12, 1946-- ). Born of Latvian parents in Munich, Germany, Alda Kirulis Kaufman immigrated to the United States in 1951. She studied watercolor painting under many nationally known artists.
Finding watercolor suited to her personality and talents, she experimented with new surfaces not normally used with watercolors and occasionally adding some mixed media. Although she painted a variety of subject matter, Kaufman preferred to concentrate on the local and familiar and liked to emphasize design in her works.
Kaufman was a signature member of the Iowa Watercolor Society and Iowa Artists.
