He was the president of the Dubuque Fighting Saints and was one of the important members of the "SDave Our Saints" effort which tried to keep the Saints in Dubuque during difficult economic times in the city during the mid-1980s. He then led the effort with Ken Gaber to replace them when the team moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2001. The Dubuque ThunderBirds were established before the Saints left Dubuque and began play in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League in 2001. | ||
