TITUS SCHMIDT AND COMPANY.  [[SCHMID, Titus|Titus SCHMID]], B. Scheer and F. Beck founded the company in 1855. With a capacity of 7,000 barrels of beer annually, the plant had an appraised vale of $10,000 in 1857. The brewery, the first to locally bottle beer, was later called the [[IOWA BREWERY]].

The renamed SCHMID BROTHERS AND COMPANY was the first to locally bottle beer for drinking at home. This business was later renamed the IOWA BREWERY.
