Gonner, Lawrence M. (Cape Girardeau, MO, Nov. 22, 1867--Dubuque, IA, June 30, 1913). Gonner was one of the publishers of the popular Catholic weeklies CATHOLIC TRIBUNE (THE), LUXEMBURGER GAZETTE, and KATHOLISCHER WESTEN.
Gonner began working for the CATHOLIC PRINTING COMPANY which published the weeklies after completing college. Under the direction of his father, Lawrence's abilities became apparent as the papers expanded their readership. The IOWA, which had been published by his father, became the Katholischer Westen.
