DETERMAN, Thomas. (Clinton, IA, Mar. 10, 1948- ). Teacher and administrator. Determan, past president of the DUBUQUE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION, was selected the 1987 Teacher of the Year by the Iowa Council for Social Studies. A social studies teacher at STEPHEN HEMPSTEAD HIGH SCHOOL, Determan was active on the state level with Model U.N. (United Nations) and the Iowa Global Education Association. In 1989 he accepted a supervisory assignment with the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT.
