PLATT, Isaac M. (Germany, 1841--Dubuque, IA, July 30, 1901). Platt emigrated to the United States in 1856 and to Dubuque in 1863. With his brother, P. M., he established a small-scale clothing business. His brother left for New York, and I. M. Platt joined his other brother, S. M. Platt, in establishing [[PLATT BROTHERS COMPANY]]. (1) He died on a railroad trip returning from Chicago. (2)

I. M. Platt's daughter married G. C. Sommerfield who purchased his father-in-law's company and renamed it G. C. Sommerfield and Company. In 1902 Sommerfield and Mark Platt, the company's secretary and treasurer, decided to pursue business opportunities in Chicago and sold the company to [[URBACH BROS.]] (3)
